Privacy Policy
Effective April 28, 2026. SwiftPen is built on a simple principle: your words are yours. This policy explains exactly what we do — and don't — do with your data.
01Overview
SwiftPen ("we", "our", or "us") is a macOS productivity utility that helps you improve selected text and transcribe speech anywhere on your Mac. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By downloading or using SwiftPen, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.
02Local-Only Processing
SwiftPen runs entirely on your Mac. Every AI model — both the large language model used to improve your text and the speech-to-text model used to transcribe your voice — executes locally on your device.
Your text never leaves your Mac. When you highlight text and trigger SwiftPen, it is processed by an on-device model and the result is written back into the same application. No copy of your text is transmitted to any server, including ours.
Your audio never leaves your Mac. When you activate the dictation shortcut, your microphone is recorded locally and transcribed by an on-device speech model. No audio data is uploaded anywhere.
This is a deliberate architectural choice, not a preference toggle.
03What We Store Locally
The only data SwiftPen writes to your Mac is:
App settings and preferences. Your chosen shortcuts, tone settings, and model configuration are stored in macOS User Defaults on your device and never synced or transmitted.
Purchase receipt. If you purchase SwiftPen through the Mac App Store, Apple handles all payment processing. We receive only an anonymous App Store receipt token to validate your licence on-device. We never see your name, email, or payment details.
04What We Do Not Collect
Because there is no SwiftPen server or analytics pipeline, we collect nothing. Specifically:
05Accessibility & System Permissions
SwiftPen requests macOS Accessibility permission solely to read the currently selected text and to paste the improved version back into the originating application. This is a standard macOS mechanism — the same one used by tools like Alfred, Raycast, and TextSoap.
SwiftPen uses this permission only when you explicitly trigger it via a keyboard shortcut. It does not run in the background, monitor your typing, or activate without your action.
If you revoke Accessibility permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, the text-improvement feature will stop working until permission is re-granted.
06Microphone Access
The dictation feature requires microphone access, which macOS will prompt you to grant the first time you use it. Audio capture begins only when you hold the designated shortcut key and stops the moment you release it. No audio is written to disk at any point.
07Children's Privacy
SwiftPen is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you have concerns, please contact us at the address below.
08Your Rights
Because SwiftPen stores no personal data on any server, there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf. All data SwiftPen touches lives on your device and is under your full control.
To remove SwiftPen's local preferences, uninstall the app and delete its support files via Finder. To revoke macOS permissions, use System Settings → Privacy & Security.

09Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the app or on our website. Continued use of SwiftPen after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
